Red Star Restaurant

We had a farewell lunch for Jack at this traditional Chinese Restaurant - Red Star which was one of the four heavenly during 80's & 90's. The entire set up is traditional chinese oldies setting, so do not expect fancy or modern furniture here. In fact, the moment I stepped into the restaurant, it brought back all the memorable moments I had shared with my father in this restaurant. Their dim sums till served in the traditional ways through push carts, however due to shortage of manpower eventually customers had to gather around the entrance of kitchen to get the dim dum themselves. Don't pin high hope for excellent service here. Put service aside, the price is reasonable for the quality and the quantity of the food, dim sum price from $2.20 onwards.

Shashlik Restaurant

This is a certainly one of the oldest restaurant that gave you the nostagic feel , situated inside ulu shopping centre - Far East shopping centre along Orchard Road. No fancy design, no nice decor, no fantastic service.Servers are skill senior workers who has worked in the restaurant for more than 3 decades , tend to be a bit slow and give " dun bother" attitude. Well ! This is the price you need to pay for a good bosch soup came with warm bun. Just tolerate for the sake of best bosch soup in Singapore.

The Pasta Shop by Sakae

Tiong Bahru Plaza had undergone a major revamp at Basement 01 and level 01, there are more Food and beverages outlets setting up in the Plaza, you will be spoilt by choices of outlet. Of all the outlets , we chosed The Pastry Shop by Sakae for our lunch, it deemed to be a totally disappointed food experience that spoilt my entire day . I love pasta & pizza though, but the food quality couldnt made it for our palate . If you are searching for the most horrible taste pasta. Bingo ! This is right place Be prepare to spend more and don't be deceive by the visuals shown in the menu. The portion given is only sufficient for kid, as a small eater like me couldn't fill my stomach at all. Basing on the price they charge, it will be more worthwhile to eat at Dao Paolo which will give generous portion of pasta and ingriedients and 100% certain of the quality and taste.

Assorted Mushroom Pizza @$10.90
6 small and thin slices with some mushrooms. The best dish we tasted in the restaurant.

Green Tea Red Bean Shake @$6.90
The visual shown on the menu apparently looked much bigger cup and more red beans though, what was served was discounted more than 50%.

Basil Chicken & Asparagus pasta @$14.90
Taste horrible! Yacky ! Pasta was uncooked. Couldnt find the fragrance of basil, the combination was terrible. Wondering , have they taste it before ? Fortunately, the porton served was small.

Flower Clam soup pasta @$14.90
Original taste of spaghetti . The noodle was bland, tastless and soup equally tasteless with msg. Portion was good for a small kid with less than 10 small clams. Need to double or triple the portion for adult .

Marvelous Cream

A new concept Ice cream store opened in Citilink recently.. Marvalous creams from Japan. You have a wide varities of fruits , nuts, cookies, flavours to choose from the display. If you find it too hard to decide , go for the most popular items . It is something novel that the crew will "perform frying skill" the mixing of the nuts, fruits and scoop of Ice Cream . Price is reather reasonable , I paid $17.20 for three ice cream

chunk of fruits mix in the ice cream that lvel the texture .

Awfully Chocolate

Dark chocolate was bought by my cousin for my mum birthday. Awfully chocolate was set up by a lawyer who gave up her high pay check for her baking dream. Indeed , Awfully didn't disappoint me despite setting up so many outlets . The cake is moist, perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness and the divine taste still lingers in your mouth after 1st slice. If you are a chocolate fanatic , at least try once and I believe you will me hooked ...

Centre PS @ Guan Chuan Street

Macaron is a kind of french pastry that most visitors to French have to try it. In Singapore, you are able to spot the sign of Macarons in some french pastry shop. Through many publishing, I made my first attempt to try Centre PS's Macarons. My verdict : truely overated by the editors, the outer layer is crisp and texture perfect but the cream layer at the centre not for my liking. I do have a sweet tooth but this was over my top. Cost of the Macarons at $2 for a each bite size pastry.

Ivins Restaurant

Ivins Restaurant is best known of Peranakan cuisine price at reasonable rate. On the pretext of celebrating birthday for my boss, we visited the restaurant. A simpe decorated but cosy restaurant satisfiying our tummy. Each serving is relatively small, sufficent for 2 persons, so if you come with big group, you may need to order double portion. We ordered many dishes made me too busy that I had missed taking all pictures if the food. If you have sweet tooth, dont forget to complete the meal and lighten your days by the sweet pernankan desserts.
Ayam Buah Keluah, must order peranakan dish that give you the true taste of Peranakan. Chicken stewed with fruits (a black hard shelled fruit).

Stewed pork ! Great taste !

Lady finger with samba chilli.

We had our dessert at this best know cafe of the unqiue local favours of gelato. Frankly , I could remember the name of the cafe, nevertheless I know the exact location. It situated inside the building facing the main road beside Coronation Plaza, it is very easy to identify through the big word " GELATO" . From neteziens, I understand that their gelatos are all home made, that assure freshness of the cold dessert. Gosh ! Fresh for Ice - cream. You will be spoilt by choices of local and unique flavours , you can find tangy strawberry (which gives u tiny bite of strawberries), local coffee , teh terik , durian ..... and many others weird names .
